U2 Brings The Joshua Tree Back to Life in Concert
A resident of Geneva, Illinois, Joanna Manaves holds leadership responsibilities with Peacock Foods in the areas of product control and supply chain management. An avid music fan, Joanna Manaves has seen live performances by artists such as Josh Groban, Celine Dion, Bon Jovi, and U2.
As reported in the Los Angeles Times, the Irish band U2 recently played at the Rose Bowl as part of a world tour commemorating the 30th anniversary of its release of the seminal 1980s album The Joshua Tree. Selling 25 million copies over the decades, the album includes classics such as “With or Without You” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”
As the band described it, a core aim was to keep the music, inspired by the American landscape, fresh and meaningful to new generations of listeners. This was particularly true of songs such as “Red Hill Mining Town,” which addresses the plight of miners who have lost their jobs. To kick off the concert, U2 also ran through urgent early songs such as “Pride (In the Name of Love)” and “New Year’s Day.”
